The world’s only international surf and environmental film festival is back for another year, with the 2026 Save The Waves Film Festival set to bring a fresh lineup of surf films and conservation stories to communities around the globe.

Hosted by Save The Waves Coalition, the festival has been running since 2008 and combines surf storytelling with environmental fundraising efforts aimed at protecting surf ecosystems worldwide.

This year’s tour will feature films shot across California, Ghana, Portugal, the Azores, the Canary Islands, Indonesia, Australia, Peru and Mexico, with surfers and filmmakers including Miguel Blanco, Matt George and Karen Song selected from more than 120 submissions.

Alongside the surf action, the festival will continue spotlighting coastal conservation projects and the communities working to protect vulnerable surf breaks around the world.

After hosting more than 50 community-led events across 12 countries last year, the 2026 tour is expected to expand even further, with confirmed stops across the United States, Australia, Portugal and the United Kingdom, while additional screenings are set to be announced in Mexico, Costa Rica and Indonesia.

A major part of the festival’s growth has come through its “Film Fest In A Box” initiative, which allows local communities to host their own screenings and fundraising events.
